The Abode of Bliss - Part 1

As you probably know, I love to learn different languages and the cultures they come from. One can discover things so fascinating they seem to be made up.

The story I’m posting today is about a place in Turkey called the Topkapi Gardens. It is both beautiful and has a long history. Much of this history is full of drama and danger.

What I’ve prepared is a 2 part video that takes you through some of that history with a bit of unexpected help from Shelvis. Part 1 is posted below. Part 2 will come in the next post.

On This Day In The Fair Land of Tupelo, A Great King Was Born

On January 8th, 1935 a bright light began to shine on the Earth. That light was the Future King Of Rock and Roll – Elvis Presley.

This amazing performer has inspired millions of people with songs like “Heartbreak Hotel”, “Love Me Tender” and “Don’t Be Cruel”. Along with internationally televised concerts like “Aloha From Hawaii” Elvis Presley made 33 movies that can still be seen around the world today.

The greatest entertainer of all time came from humble beginnings in the town of Tupelo, Mississippi. His family later moved to Memphis, Tennessee where, after he achieved stardom, he bought a home he called Graceland. In 1977 Elvis died in that home. Although he no longer makes movies or performs for thousands The King, as he is lovingly known, still inspires people (and armadillos) around the world.

Elvis Presley would have been 73 years old today. Long Live The King!

Saul

Hey,

I'm Saul. I'm a possum and resident scavenger. I'm able to find treasure where most others only see trash. Most of the stories I bring will be kind of unusual. Oh yeah, I'm good at computer stuff.

Irene

Why hello.

I'm Irene Goodnight. As you can see, I am a mockingbird, and being such I can mimic practically any human voice I hear. My thirst for knowledge comes from my love of language. I can speak many languages and endeavor to understand the cultures which they come from.

Colonel

Hello.

I'm Colonel (Pronounced Kernel). I'm a rooster of the Brown Leghorn variety. I'm an expert in history, especially of the military kind.

Right. Carry on.

Shelvis

Hello There. I'm Shelvis.

I'm an armadillo who just happens to be
The Most Charismatic Armored Mammal Known To Mankind!
I'm a devotee of the King of Rock and Roll. My specialty is Popular Culture, which includes things like music, movies and entertainment - you know, all the important stuff.

Kate

Kate here.

I'm what you call a southeastern shrew. I may be the smallest member of the Varmints but I wouldn't get in my way if I were you. My temper can get a little nasty. Anyway, I love science and technology, and don't like anyone messing with my tools.

Rex

Hi,
I'm Rex - Team Leader and one of the hosts of Be A Know It All. I'm a green anole lizard, and my specialty is Literature.

Meet the Varmints!
